Week of February 25th-March 1st

Book Fair will be going on all week.  Students can bring in money and will be allowed to shop during recess time.





Academics:

ELA: This week we will resume with our Morphs! List #9  with a test on Friday. Remember this is a cumulative test! Study the words from lists 1-9! 


This week we will begin a Daily Language Lesson because there is no Glamour in incorrect Grammar!

 We will begin focus lessons to review for the FSA and have our usual I-Ready reading lessons as well.  

ON THURSDAY WE WILL HAVE A 2 HOUR PRACTICE WRITING PROMPT! PLEASE DO NOT BE ABSENT OR TARDY UNLESS YOU ARE SICK!

Math:  We will continue discussing volume. Remind students that they will need to label answers in cubic inches, cubic feet, etc...

Science:  We will continue discussing plants, animals and the human body!  We will discuss similarities and differences between these things.  We will then be moving into animal adaptations.

Week of February 18th-22nd

Image result for presidents dayWe will see everyone on Tuesday, after the long weekend!

The annual stakeholders SAC meeting will take place on Tuesday evening at 6PM in the Media Center!  All are welcome!

Early Release on Wednesday.

Weekly workouts will return in March!!  We will start getting summer ready! :)

Don't forget about sending in Box Tops!



Academics:

ELA: No new Morphs this week.  We will resume with list #9 next week.  We will color code, reflect on and revise writing this week.  Great job!  We will be focusing on visualizing text elements as well as comparing and contrasting texts in similar genres in reading.

Math:  We will begin module 5 this week which covers area.  View videos below.

Science:  We will finish up the human body.  Ask your child about the pamphlet they created.  We will then begin working on how plant an animal structures are similar.

Week of February 11th-15th

No School on Friday the 15th!  Students will have a 4 day weekend, with no school on Monday, the 18th.  Enjoy the long break!

Box tops!!  Please send in all boxtops!  Our final submission for this year is by Feb. 22nd.  We use our boxtop money to help fund some of the end of the year 5th grade events.  


Academics:

ELA: No morphs this week due to the short week!  We will do a vocabulary activity with our Morph test from Friday!  We will be wrapping up our SS and RRJ work jobs which will be due on Thursday 2/14 since we have no school on Friday.  Pop up RRJ is due on 2/14.


We will complete an Interim I-ready test on Tuesday 2/12.  The next I-ready skill will be visualizing elements in stories and poems to enhance understanding of the text! We will begin color coding our writing and reflecting and revising!

Math: Students will have a test on Module 4 on Thursday.  We will finish up lesson 31 & 32 this week in the module 4 workbook. We will spend time reviewing on Wednesday.  Module 4 was a big topic, so be sure to spend sometime reviewing the lessons we completed in the workbook.

Science: We will continue to discuss the human body.  We will also discuss how plant parts are similar and different to the parts of the human body.  For example, humans have a skeleton and skin to support our structure, while plants have a stem for support.  We will likely have a quiz sometime this week... some might call it a POP quiz! :)

Week of February 4th-8th

Early Release on Wednesday!

Don't forget about creating Valentine's for your classmates if interested! :) We will pass them out on Thursday, Feb. 14th.

Academics:

ELA: We will be working on Morph list #8 this week!  Test on Friday is cumulative to first list.

New socials studies ticket and RRJ will be assigned today and due on 2/14/19.
We will work in our I-ready book and focus on using multiple texts to understand a single topic which goes along with what we have been doing in Writing all Year!
New Timed Writing Prompt! Wahoo!  Another opportunity to show off your great writing skills!

No new secret phrase this week!  The winner from last week was: Zoe 💓.

Math:  We will be dividing whole numbers and fractions, and dividing fractions by fractions.  Students will take an end of module 4 assessment on Thursday, Feb. 14th! :) Module 5 will deal with volume and area.
