Our chickens will begin hatching this week! We have had fun learning about the life cycle of a chicken and even got the opportunity to candle them to see a developing embryo.
Academics:
ELA: No Morphs this week in order to catch up on Ready lessons and Writing. Ready pages from last week (p142-147) need to be turned in by Tuesday 11/17. New ready pages are 156-161 and are due on 11/20. RRJs are now due on 11/24. I am extending this a few days from my original due date. We will complete our Tiger Informative prompts this week. We will have one more Informative prompt before moving on to opinion prompts. New SS tickets this week to be due on 12/4. (The Middle Colonies!)
No new secret phrase this week. I am repeating last week's secret phrase! Put it on sticky and give it to Mrs. Ray of 🌞
Science: We will discuss the inner and outer planets this week. Students need to know the difference between the inner and outer planets. For example, the inner planets are smaller with less moons and have rocky surfaces. The outer planets are much larger with many moons and are composed mostly of gas.

Secret Phrase this week is:
Math: We will review the module 2 assessment taken last week and begin working in Module 3: Fractions! We will begin by adding and subtracting fractions.
Science: We will wrap up our unit on Force and Motion on Monday. We will then begin our new unit on space beginning with our galaxy. Students need to know that the Milky Way Galaxy is made up of gas, dust, and many stars. One of those stars is our Sun. The sun is not the largest star in our solar system, it is actually considered a medium size star. It just appears so bright to us due to its proximity to Earth. On Friday, students will have a "virtual field trip" experience during science to visit the Marine Science Center.
