 IMPORTANT:

Many things are coming home on Monday for you to review and return.

1. Sign and return progress reports

2. Invitation to the Promotional Ceremony on May 26th-- MUST RSVP!!  Only 2 guests per student!

3. End of year class party -- cost $6.

4. Review the calendar and health video flyer.

State Testing this week:  Please be sure your student is at school each day by 8:30!!

Academics:

ELA: FSA ELA-Reading-Monday and Tuesday! 

We have begun our book study of Esperanza Rising. We will be reading 2-3  chapters in class a week with assignments and projects to go along with the book. Thanks to all who purchased a copy!

RRJ is due on Friday with a chat! 5/7.

Travel Brochure is due on May 14. Presentations will be optional the next week.

Math: After the Math FSA, we will begin discussing some 6th grade material.  We will start by looking at ratios.

Science:  We will continue to review this week by completing some science labs!  Science Test will be next week on Wednesday & Thursday!!!

April 26th - 30th

ELA:

We will begin Esperanza Rising this week!  If you have not gotten a copy, there is still time.  Otherwise, I do have copies for students to use.  Thank you to all who have purchased your own copy! I am excited for us to read this book together!  Lots of fun projects to come, as well! 🎉🥳

RRJ due May 7. (no creative arts)

Travel Brochures:  We will also be starting another project to count as a SS grade and a Reading grade.  Travel Brochures on your favorite destination. (I have magazines or students can bring their own printed information.) These will have a rubric guide and will be due on May 14th. The following week we will have sign ups for optional presentations.

FSA vocabulary #3 with a test on Friday!

Math/Science:

We are in FSA prep mode!  We will review past concepts for both subjects.  Review materials will be coming home during the coming weeks be sure to go over and review with your child.  The test questions are VERY similar to the format they will see on the FSA.

We will also complete i-Ready testing on Monday and Wednesday.

ELA: Social Studies Ticket due4/23

FSA vocabulary list #2 test on Friday.

We will be finishing up our Ready lessons this week with Comparing and Contrasting Stories in the same Genre. 

We will have a lesson check on this NEW standard on Friday.

We will also be working on grammar/language lessons.

We will also complete the lesson check from last week on Visual Elements. This will be due Friday.

 We survived the ELA Writing! 

We will continue to prepare for FSA testing!

Science 12-13

ELA: This week we will be introducing FSA vocabulary. Academic language that may be seen on the FSA. The test will be on Friday, 4/16. We will have 3 lists of this type of vocabulary to prepare us for our tests in May!

Our reading skill is analyzing how visual elements contribute to the meaning, tone and beauty of a text. Lesson check on Friday, 4/16.

We will also be working on proper use of commas and finishing up Literature Circles from last week.

 BIG NEWS:  THE FSA WRITING TEST IS THIS WEEK! 4/8/21

THAT'S RIGHT! THURSDAY, APRIL 8TH IS THE DAY WE HAVE PREPARED FOR ALL YEAR!

WE WILL TAKE THE 2 HOUR WRITING ASSESSMENT WHICH WILL BE PART OF YOUR FSA READING SCORE. 

ELA: RRJ is due Friday, 4/9/21, with chat.  We will be making last minute preparations to take our Writing Assessment on Thursday. We will be completing a new language skill each day. 

Next week we will resume our Ready skills. We have two lessons left before completion of our book! Whoo hoo! That's a whole lot of Reading!
