Week of March 26th-March 30th

There is no school on Friday, in observance of Good Friday.

Academics:

ELA:  Welcome back all you little Readers!  This week we will be working with FSA vocabulary. These are words you may encounter on the upcoming FSA reading test.  We will have a test on the first two lists on April 6th. (Test 3 will be the following week.)  We will also have an RRJ due on April 6th as well as a short social studies assignment.





Math:

Science:  We will work on food webs and food chains this week.

Week of March 12th-16th

No school on Friday, March 16th-- it will be a teacher planning day.


We hope everyone has an enjoyable Spring Break and we will see everyone back at school on Monday, March 26th.

Academics:

ELA: Hooray for an excellent effort on the FSA Writing!  I am so proud of every one of you for the effort you put into the test and the work leading up to it!  You are WRITERS!

 No new work jobs this week.  All work jobs are due on Wednesday! We will also have our homonym test on Wednesday. (affect, effect, its, it's, by, buy, then, than, allowed, aloud)
We will be working on paired texts this week. Comparing and contrasting them in order to determine similar events, topics and theme. 💓💙💚💛💜

Math: We continue to work in Module 5.
Lesson 18: Draw rectangles and rhombuses to clarify their attributes, and define rectangles and hombres based on those attributes.
Lesson 19: Draw kites and squares to clarify their attributes, and define kites and squares based on those attributes.
Lesson 20 : Classify two dimensional figures in a hierarchy based on properties.
Lesson 21: Draw and identify varied two dimensional figures from given attributes.


Science:  Students will be completing an animal adaptation scavenger hunt this week as well as completing a lab on bird beaks.  We will wrap up our unit on adaptations this week before spring break.  We will look into food webs and food chains when we return.

Week of March 5th-9th

Writing FSA takes place on Tuesday, March 6th.  Please ensure your child arrives to school on time and enjoys a good breakfast.

Rebounders Night will take place on Thursday, March 8th!

Individual Spring pictures will take place on Friday!

Academics:

ELA: The FSA Writing test is finally here and we are ready! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
We will get new work jobs on Wedsnesday in the form of a social studies ticket and an RRJ.  We will not have vocabulary this week.  The work jobs will be due on 3/14/18. We will also be working on paired texts. We will be finding theme, tone and mood.  We will begin working with FSA vocabulary next week!

Math:

Science: We will continue to work through behavioral and physical adaptations in animals this week.  We will complete a build a beak lab where students will understand the differences between different bird beaks and how they are used.  We will have  quiz this week on human body and adaptations.  We will also begin discussing complete and incomplete metamorphosis.
