No School Tomorrow Friday, September 2nd

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Due to the progression of Tropical Storm Hermine, Duval County Public Schools is closing all schools, and cancelling all after-school activities, and extended day care on Friday, September 2, 2016. This decision was based on current storm projections, which indicates the likelihood of heavy rain and winds Friday morning. This has the potential to create unsafe travel to schools in the morning, especially with our school buses and travel over bridges. In order to inform parents and guardians, automated phone calls and emails will be sent out advising of the latest school cancellations, and necessary updates will be made to the district’s website at www.duvalschools.org, DCPS mobile app, Twitter and Facebook pages. Additionally, we will also continue to share information and updates with local media outlets. The safety of our students and community is of paramount importance, and we ask all residents to take the proper precautions during this severe weather system. We anticipate all normal school operations and activities will resume as scheduled following the Labor Day weekend on Tuesday, September 6, 2016. The makeup day will be announced to parents in September.
