Week of September 3rd-7th

Image result for images no school monday  We hope everyone enjoyed the extra time off on Monday!

Open House will take place this week for students in Kindergarten, 2nd and 4th grade!  It begins at 6 PM.  We hope to see everyone next week for our Open House!

Students will finish up baseline testing in their resource classes this week.

Academics:

ELA:  This week we will begin a study of MORPHS! Common prefixes, suffixes and root word parts. We will use these words (list #1) for two weeks due to the short week and have our test on
list #1 Friday, September 10th.
New RRJ due 9/10 and new SS ticket about the Constitution due 9/10.

We will continue our study of Human Rights and get ready for our novel study!

We will be reading a wonderful novel this 9 weeks called Esperanza Rising.  I only have a class set to share with both classes. Therefore, it is very helpful for students to have their own copies.  You can purchased a used copy on Amazon for $5.00.  Also available with Barnes and Noble and Scholastic!

Finally, here is this week's secret phrase!  Write it down on a sticky note and give to Mrs.Ray.  I will pull names on Friday for a trip to the Bin of Happiness!!!!

Math:  We will work through finishing up module 1.  We will look at multiplying and dividing decimals this week.  Videos below to assist with nightly homework.

We have had a fun week of labs this week in science!  We completed a lab about chemical changes and learning the scientific method and learning the importance of repeated trails!



Then we got to the tasty lab of is a double stuffed Oreo really double the stuffing?  Be sure to ask your child for the answer!  Thank you to all the families who donated Oreos! :)

Week of August 27th-31st

Our first early release will take place on Wednesday.  Dismissal will begin at 1:35.

There will be no school the following Monday, September 3rd in observance of Labor Day!

Academics:

ELA

Rituals and routines are being put into place and things are going well! This week we will finish up I-ready testing! Hooray!  We will continue working on RRJs and our Social Studies ticket.  Both are due Friday.
Remember to have our independent reading book with you at all times.  RAHs are due every Thursday!
We will have content related vocabulary with a test on Friday.
This 9 weeks our focus will be on  Human Rights!

Entitled—to be deserving of having rights and privileges
UDHR-Universal Declaration of Human Rights—a document outlining the basic human rights all people should h

Week of August 20th-24th

The first week was a success!!!

Students will test for their placement in i-Ready Math and Reading this week.

We should have received all back to school paperwork by now!

Academics:

ELA:  We have had a busy first week and everyone did great!  Achieve testing was completed and ritual and routines have been put into place.  We will start our work jobs this week!  We will have a spelling test on Thursday of commonly misspelled words. Our first RRJ will be due August 31 as will our first Social Studies Ticket.  On Friday we will begin I-ready testing and complete it next Monday.

Week of August 13th-17th

Welcome back to school!  We are looking forward to this week of getting to know you better.

Students will begin beginning of year testing this week, this will help us to determine our next steps throughout the year.

Parents-- please continue to complete your parent homework assignment, we look forward to learning more about your child!

Academics:

ELA: We will begin setting up our journals and putting rituals and routines in place! Friday will be the Achieve Level Set!

Math:  We will begin by discussing place value.  We hope to complete lessons 1 and 2 in module 1.
