Week of December 14th-18th

Our last week of school before Winter Break!  We have plenty to keep us busy!

There is no early release this week!

The PTA Store will be open all week for students to purchase small items for siblings & parents.  If students bring in money, they may attend the store.

Monday- Spelling Bee in the Cafeteria at 9:00!  Good luck to all our students participating!  Parents are welcome to attend.
Tuesday- Last session of the Science practice test
and ELA Practice District Writing Test
Wednesday- Field Trip to the IMAX (Students may bring money to purchase popcorn and snacks at the IMAX)
Thursday- Chorus performance
Friday- Our class party--11:45(Thank you to Ms. Williams for planning and organizing)

Winter Break Homework:
Students will have 16 days off for winter break, I am requesting that students complete 6 i-Ready lessons.  These lessons can be completed all in one day or spread out over the course of their time off.  Of course completing more than 6 lessons is definitely OK! :)  Please let us know ahead of time if your child will not have access to the internet over break.
For ELA:
Students should also complete 4 Achieve 3000 lessons.  Those students on I-ready Reading should complete 4 of those as well

Academics:

ELA:  We will not have vocabulary this week due to our field trip, testing and our party.
No RRJ or Social Studies.  We will focus on our reading and writing in our whole group.  Students will still have to complete Achieve lessons and their RAH.
The District Practice Writing Prompt will take place on Tuesday and will be our first opportunity to write a complete paper in one sitting of 120 minutes from plan to final product! :) The writing has been amazing and I am excited to see how it goes!

This week's secret word winners were: Rhea and Cydney!  Keep reading the blog and write down the secret word with your name on a sticky and turn in to Mrs. Ray.
This week's secret word is "holiday"!

Math:
We will cover 3 lessons this week in Module 4, these lessons continue to cover how fractions are related to division.  We will model using tape diagrams.  Be sure to watch the videos for further explanation.

Math Homework:
Monday- Module 4 Lesson 3
Tuesday- Module 4 Lesson 4 (due Thursday due to field trip)
Thursday- Module 4 Lesson 5

Science:
We will wrap up Chapter 6 on Energy this week and test on Friday.  This is an open book test.  Science books will come home on Thursday night for students to study.

Resources:

We enjoyed attending Suessical the Musical last week.  Three of our talented students were in the production: Cydney, Mackenzie, & Maya.  They did a fantastic job! :)
